The Sensory Made Simple Podcast

with Dr. Samantha Goldman

For children with sensory sensitivity and overload, simple everyday moments—like a trip to the store or getting dressed—often turn into meltdowns. It’s not just frustrating for them (or you)—it’s emotionally exhausting, because it feels like too much to handle.

In this episode, we’ll help you truly understand what sensory sensitivity and overload mean for your child and how you can respond in a way that supports them before they reach that breaking point.

Highlights from this episode:

🎙️ Meet your host: Samantha Goldman, aka Dr. Sam, an occupational therapist with a passion for helping families make mealtimes easier and more fun.

🎙️ What to expect: Bite-sized tips, fun food puns, and occasional guest episodes to keep you inspired.

🎙️ For busy parents: Listen on the go—whether you’re driving, cooking, or cheering at a soccer game

🎙️ Start now: Four episodes are ready for you to dive into.

About the Host:

Being a parent of a child with sensory challenges isn’t easy. Some days, it feels like you’re walking on eggshells, unsure of what will set off the next meltdown. You’re doing everything you can, but you can’t help wondering if there’s more you could do—or if you’re missing something important.

I’m Sam Goldman, a pediatric occupational therapist and your guide in this sensory journey. I’ve spent over a decade helping parents like you understand their child’s sensory needs and find real-life strategies that actually work. My goal? To help you feel less overwhelmed, more confident, and ready to support your child in a way that feels manageable for your family.

You’re already an amazing parent, and you know your child better than anyone. This podcast is here to give you the tools to make life just a little easier—for both of you.

"Well, hello there, friend. I can't even believe I'm saying this, but welcome to the very first episode of the Food Explorers Podcast. I wanted to launch this podcast at the beginning of 2023, so it felt like a fresh start to mealtimes.

Coming in, you probably already have a lot of preconceived notions about how your child eats, what works, and what doesn't work. But let's put those on hold for a moment and instead look at this as a new, clean start to the table. Today, I just want to tell you a little bit of what to expect from me and in this podcast.

Some of you might already know me, but for those who don't, hi, I'm Samantha Goldman, but my clients like to call me Dr. Sam. The doctor is because I received my doctorate in occupational therapy. So nope, not a medical doctor.

I've taken all that I've learned working as an occupational therapist with families in some of the top children's hospitals and outpatient clinics. And I'm bringing it to you in this podcast and my online programs. My mission is to help parents bring the fun and magic back into mealtimes and help you ditch those mealtime battles for good while having fun.

And gosh, I know you as a parent are just so busy. You're constantly going, going, going, so it's really hard to sit down and learn. So I love that you can listen to these on the go, in the car, at soccer games, or even while you're cooking dinner.

In the majority of episodes, I plan to come to you solo with quick bite-sized tips and ideas. But from time to time, we'll also invite some guests for longer episodes. By the way, I have some really exciting guests already planned this year.

And at the time I released this episode, I've also released four other ones, so you can start listening and learning immediately. It may sound bananas to you now, but I know your child can learn to eat new foods and have fun doing it. I also love food puns, so I can promise there's a lot more coming of those.

So if you're as excited as I am to get started, join me in episode two, Ditching Pressure at the Table. I'll see you there."
